The LST Building

In Haiti, many NGOs use raised funds to build schools. It is because of LST’s solid and spacious quarters – within a building that withstood the 2010 earthquake and many a hurricane – that HES is able to foster the education of the students and teachers we serve.

Lekòl Sen Trinite (LST) occupies the second and third floors of a building owned by our Haitian partners, the St. Joseph Family (SJF). This building was built and is maintained by collaborating partners thus allowing HES to focus our time, energy and resources on teaching and learning.

It was in 2006 when one of the St. Joseph Family’s leaders invited the children of the neighbourhood to come and learn. He knew an education could change their lives. It all started with a handful of children around a dining room table. From there the student body grew. Adding a grade a year, from that early start, the School has grown steadily. In 2019, again inspired by an SJF leader, construction began on additional classrooms to accommodate a Middle School. Located on a third floor, the Middle School graduated its first class of Grade Nine students in June 2023.sd

Peter’s Reading Room (library), a small computer lab, large gathering area, and a play area compliment the teaching spaces. Washrooms were recently added to the second floor.

Within LST’s walls the children are loved – their minds, bodies and spirits nourished.
